I'm Engaged!!!

Here's a little bit of a back story that also ties into the ring:-) Marcus and I met July 16th, 2011 at his place of work. I was on a family vacation with my mom, step dad and little sister. Marcus was actually our waiter at a banquet in a beautiful hotel. I am incredibly shy and was definitely intimidated by his good looks (He is a former model) and could barely look at him until my sister nudged me and pointed out the fact he kept looking at me. Finally, I looked up and smiled at him and the rest of the night we flirted every time he came to the table. I am actually a terrible flirt...I have no idea how I managed flirting with him, LoL. I think God definitely stepped in and gave me a bit of a push. He seemed so cool and confident-I only found out later he was intimidated by me! I still find that hard to believe but he swears it's true, LoL.
Anyway-He told me he was shy and nervous to talk to me because he thought I was "so beautiful"-he said  I looked"just like a Princess". (I like to say God gave him beer goggles but just without the beer! Haha!) So Marcus has called me his Princess ever since we first started seeing each other. So that's why he chose the princess cut diamond (which also happens to be my favorite cut!) and I love my ring so much. He did such a good job picking it out and the proposal was a complete surprise. It was private-just how I would've wanted it if I could have chosen the moment myself!

Some ring shots....

I am very much a person who prefers a classic style (I am a total sucker for the 50s) -I never had a desire for a trendy ring or anything too big and flashy. This ring is actually bigger than I would have expected or picked but it's absolutely perfect! It's a princess cut diamond, about 1/2 ct, in a gorgeous cathedral setting in white gold.(I also prefer white gold over yellow). He picked it out all on his own and absolutely nailed my taste! Not that that's surprising-He has had an amazing knack for that since our very first Christmas together!

I am so blessed and grateful to have such a wonderful man in my life- I couldn't have hoped for anyone better. I am thankful to God for putting us together and am excited to start planning our wedding. I want Marcus to be involved in every step of the planning (Well-all the steps he wants to be-except the dress shopping, of course! haha) He is actually excited about having a traditional wedding- It will be a small and intimate wedding-we're hoping to keep the guest list around 50- 75, but I don't want to leave anyone I love out-and I love an awful lot of people, LoL. That's been the biggest struggle so far:-/ The wedding will be in October of next year-October is my favorite month and Marcus proposed on the 8th of October so there couldn't be a better time for it!

Thank you so much to everyone who has offered their love and support! I am grateful beyond words to my loyal followers and readers! Also, stay tuned for a little celebratory giveaway! I'll be announcing that in this upcoming week!

Please feel free to leave comments if you are planning a wedding, recently engaged or already married and share your wedding/engagement stories! And if you're not engaged or married yet, I'd love to hear bout your dream ring, dream engagement, and dream wedding!

 Love to ALL!!!

Some News...

Hey guys!

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in a long time. My life has been a little bit hectic. My family has been going through some major trials-my grandma spent a month in the hospital and than another two weeks in rehabilitation so she could regain her strength. During that time, we also experienced a great tragedy last month in losing my beautiful and wonderful Aunt Linda to cancer. She was a blessing to my family and to the world. She was so strong and had amazing faith, I am thankful to God for having had her in my life.
Shortly after her death my best friend got married and I was her maid of honor-that was some happy news:-) But happier news came just two days after the wedding-my boyfriend of over a year who was visiting from Atlanta (as my date to my friend's wedding) proposed! I am so excited and I know my Aunt was looking down and smiling. I am only saddened by the fact she never got to meet my wonderful fiance, Marcus. I know she would have adored him.
My life is starting to get back to normal now (although I am recovering from the flu-stay healthy everyone! It's a nasty thing, that flu:-/ ) I'll be doing a brief little engagement post coming up-and I'll include some of my wedding planning details along the way! If anyone wants to throw in some input-feel free!

Thank you to everyone for the support and continued following of A Little More Beautiful!

With SO much love,

Curious about Microdermabrasion?

What non-invasive procedures has the ability to treat acne, large pores and help diminish fine lines, hyper pigmentation, superficial scarring, age spots (or sun damage)?

Microdermabrasion! It seems like a heavy load for such a relatively short and painless procedure but it has been a commonly used practice by celebrities and people looking to feel and look younger and have a healthier, more glowing complexion. Our skin is the most looked at part of our bodies and is usually an area of great concern for everyone-men and women alike! Everyone wants to look as young as they feel and have beautiful, clear skin. Microdermabrasion has made that much easier to achieve!

We all know how important exfoliation is to our skin, right? Well, microdermabrasion is like that only better-It's very fine, gentle medical grade crystals  (made of aluminum oxide) are moved over the skin in a controlled manner with a hand held device by a trained expert. It takes approximately a half an hour to do the entire face and neck and each area is usually gone over twice to assure all the dead skin is removed. (The dead skin is sucked up by a small vacuum.) This process encourages new skin growth and helps us to produce more collagen to actually provide a healthier, younger appearance. It also will help your skin products work their magic better by removing that dead layer of cells that sits on top of our skin and can prevent products from actually getting into the pores and treating whatever it is you're trying to achieve with your daily regimen.

Usually the only "side effect" from this procedure is a little bit of a pink glow-like you spent a it of time in the sun-and you may feel a small amount of tightness after the procedure but that subsides. You are able to go right back to your daily activities although it is advised to avoid being in the sun for a period of 24 hours. Just be sure to use a great moisturizer and sun screen!

Some of the benefits to this treatment is it is safe and effective for all skin types. Some sensitive skin types who don't have luck with chemical exfoliation peals are great candidates for Microdermabrasion! It will improve the texture and the tone of all skin types and you usually get visual results very quickly-especially in the brightness of your skin! It can be great to help unclog pores and treat blackheads and acne as well as uneven pigmentation from sun damage or maybe acne scarring.

Skin conditions such as scarring or acne may take about 6 treatments to notice massive change depending on your skin type and condition. It is also suggested you receive a treatment every 1-6 months (again, depending on your skin type and condition) to maintain the best results. Please leave a comment below if you've ever tried Microdermabrasion and let us know your results!

Be Sure to check out MYA for additional information on this non surgical treatment. There's an awesome FAQ section that will provide you with more information-or you can contact them to make an inquiry or set up a free consultation!

First Brazilian Wax Experience

So...this is maybe a bit of a personal topic-but I've actually had several questions about bikini waxes and Brazilian waxes. Having never actually gotten one myself (I was always more of a shaver until recently) I decided I should experience it first hand to give you guys a good idea of what to expect!

I'll start off by saying I have a pretty high pain tolerance-but I was expecting it to be far worse than what it actually was. Don't get me wrong-it is definitely painful. On a scale from 1-10 I'd rate it at about a 7. That's definitely the main "con" of getting a Brazilian wax.

I am a pretty shy girl and I was absolutely mortified going into the whole experience. But the spa I went to was lovely and my Esthetician was absolutely wonderful and professional. She took a few minutes to talk me through the process and talked to me throughout the entire waxing to take my mind off of it. The whole process took about 15 minutes and I had zero negative reactions. I didn't get ingrown hairs or any long lasting irritation. I was a little sore but that went away relatively quickly. She also gave me a cream to apply for the next few days to prevent ingrown hairs and to slow the hairs' growth.

It was an awesome feeling not having to shave for well over a month! If you are interested in getting waxed, here are a few tips based on my own personal experience:-)

1) Go to a spa and make sure you're comfortable with the person who will be performing the service.
2) Try not to be nervous or shy-they do this everyday and are entirely used to it!
3)Take an over the counter pain reliever about a half an hour before your appointment.
4) Follow the after care instructions!
5) Don't be afraid to pay a little bit more-it's better to go to someone who really knows what they're doing and is very professional.
6) Don't forget to tip! If your esthetician did a good job and made you feel comfortable, she definitely deserves it!

If anyone wants to send me a question, please don't hesitate! That's what I'm here for:-) If anyone has any of their own stories or tips, please feel free to share them in the comments section below if you want!

My Personal Favorite Face (and Body) Scrub

Lush's Ocean Salt is by far my favorite face scrub. I have tried and loved many but always come back to good old Ocean Salt! The ingredients are simple, natural and gentle. Fine and Course sea salts exfoliate away dead skin, vodka infused lime brightens the complexion and tightens pores while avocado butter and seaweed nourish and protect skin. Coconut fat keeps skin from being stripped of it's natural oils while grapefruit infusion is antibacterial and brightening.

This is a perfect scrub to use once a week if you have dry or normal skin and maybe twice a week if you have oilier or combination skin. You can also use it all over the body-perfect to use before using a sunless tanner!

If you haven't given it a try, I would encourage you to head to your local lush and ask for a sample to try it out for yourself! Lush is great about giving samples- but in my opinion, it is well worth the price! A little goes such a long way too that even the small tub lasts a long time, especially if you only use it for a facial scrub. Has anyone tried Ocean Salt? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments section!

$19.95- for 4.2oz
$34.95 for 8.8oz

Stages of Beauty Skincare- Radiance Collection Review

Stages of Beauty is the very first natural anti-aging skincare brand divided into age specific lines for women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s+. The goal with Stages of Beauty is to not only treat current signs of aging but to prevent signs of aging and damage caused by environmental hazards and free radicals.

I was sent a few items from the "Radiance" line for women in their 20s. It focuses primarily on preventative care and protection. For women in their 20s, our worst "aging enemy" is definitely the sun and free radicals. Free Radicals can leave our skin looking dull, discolored and lead to premature loss of collagen and elastin-which leads to-you guessed it, WRINKLES! This skin care line is free of sulfates, parabens, fragrances and synthetic dyes which is something that is incredibly important to me! I have been trying to be as natural as possible when it comes to my skincare so I loved the fact that there were no harsh chemicals.

The Cleanser was a very light, clear formula that remove my makeup in a snap. It also left my skin feeling clean without leaving behind that tight, too dry feeling. The combination of Licorice&Mulberry Root Extract, Tea Leaf Extract and Swiss Cress left my skin looking clean, clear and bright.

Price: $29.99

The Scrub has jojoba, pomegranate and bamboo granules to gently exfoliate and remove dull, dead skin cells. Natural fruit acids protect skin from signs of aging. This scrub left my skin feeling incredibly smooth and soft. It felt like I got a deeper clean with this. After about 3 weeks of using it, I did notice my skin tone looking more even and brighter as well. I used this about 3-4 times a week instead of daily although it is gentle enough that you could probably use it on a day to day basis.

Price: $34.99

The Treatment Cream is incredibly lightweight-I feel like it would work great for any skin type. It provided the perfect amount of moisture without ever feeling too heavy or leaving my skin feeling too dry. It protects the skin throughout the day and is meant to promote repair of free radical damage. I used this both morning and night.

Price: $52.00 for 30mL and $74.99 for 50 mL

There are two other products in this line- one is a serum called "Antioxidant Serum with Red tea". I didn't try this one out but it is made to calm irritated or inflamed skin and repair and combat free radical damage. This runs $52.99 for 15 mL and $74.99 for a 30mL bottle.

The other product is a supplement meant to be taken orally that is said to help improve the overall health of your skin, elevate mood, support healthy weight management and maintain heart health. The cost of this is $29.99 for a 30 day supply.

To check out info on the other product lines offered by Stages of Beauty and look for more info on how to purchase, please visit their website--> Stages of Beauty.

Kim Kardashian's straight nose bridge, Keira Knightley's defined jawline, and Rose Bryne's prominent cheekbones are all enviable features.
